Collaboration

This inventive partnership is characterised by a continued focus on future innovation, as the Greenwood Soar IP lighting and power supply IP portfolio continues to grow.

In 1999, Simon and Steve undertook a speculative development for a novel Electronic Ballasting topology for High Intensity Discharge Lamps. The IP is licensed in the USA and Europe with current US sales of retail display lighting, roadway and other specialized lighting products licensed from Greenwood Soar IP, exceeding US$1.7M / month – a real success story!

In the early 90s Steve and Simon collaborated on speculative development of a switch mode 300 Amp MIG and TIG welding set which broke new ground in lightweight compact industrial welding power supplies at only 45kg and 450mm cube.

Early collaboration between Steve and Simon was a speed controlled 200kW AC induction motor rope haulage system for the UK coal mining industry which was first installed and tested at Bickershaw Colliery in the UK.

As Greenwood Soar IP Ltd., Steve and Simon continue to develop novel solutions for power electronics applications across many industries. Their work on both client driven and speculative research continues to grow the IP portfolio. They also provide an experience based IP mentoring, exploitation, management and consultancy service, tailored to industry and individual clients needs.
